Check-out Guide
As you get closer to the day of your check-out, we have put together a check list to help assist you.
As well as cleaning the property thoroughly before checkout, you should take several other steps to improve your chances of receiving your deposit back in full. These include:
- Making sure that all light bulbs are working.
- Defrosting the freezer – please ensure you put something under to catch the water, if you don’t there is a chance the flooring may become water damaged and this will be a chargeable repair – you must also leave the door slightly open
- Removing all remaining food containers from cupboards, fridges and freezers – anything left that we have to clear will be chargeable.
- Arranging for your post to be redirected – should you have any post delivered to the old address we cannot guarantee that we will be able to retrieve from the property.
- Empty all outside bins and ensure the correct waste is in the bin ready for the next bin collection day – if the bins are full you must remove the extra rubbish and not leave out the front of the property in bags as the council will fine us which we will have to pass on to the tenants, therefore it might be a good idea to book a tip slot. Any additional waste left that we have to remove will be chargeable.
- Any personal items should be removed – please ensure you check drawers, bathroom cabinets and showers – all items must be removed, there will be a charge if we have to clear any items that have been left.
- Ensuring all items are where they were when you first moved in and are as described in the inventory.
- If the property is professionally cleaned, please provide a copy of the invoice to your agent or the landlord.
- De-limescale all bathrooms and kitchen
- Make sure all keys are returned either at the check-out or before – instructions noted on the checkout letter
- Carpets clean, hoovered and stain free.
- Painting – DO NOT do touch up paint to areas – if the walls need painting we can recommend a contractor or you can source your own but they must get paint codes from us – please do not attempt to try yourself.
